Ohio State Students, Wanda Dewaard and Cornelius Dewaard at the Townsend River Walk & Arboretum Providing Maintenance Assistance in the Removal of Invasive Plants.
We had a great day for invasive plant removal for the 3rd straight year Wanda DeWaard, Cornelius DeWaard and a group of twelve students and their advisor from the Ohio State University Break Away Program.
This year we concentrated on already established areas of the TRWA that invasives especially vines have crept back. Euonymus, Japanese Honeysuckle vine. Chinese yam and English ivy were the main culprits with some starts of privet and honeysuckle bush. The students were taught to identify these invasives and then the techniques to remove them.
The did a great job and provided the TRWA with some much needed maintenance that goes so much faster with a group.
The TRWA wants to Thank Wanda, Cornelius, and the Ohio State group for doing such a great job.
We look forward to having them back again next year!
