Rodney and Allison Pearson have created a wonderful addition to the Children's Discovery Garden, the Ole 73 Trail Roadside Rest. It is wonderland for kids of all ages with the final addition of the Old 73 truck. The rest also contains a teepee, artifacts and other fun finds, a picnic/discovery table and a carved bear named Yona (Cherokee for bear).
The truck "Old 73 was the final addition that was added this past Saturday. Rodney cut all the pieces of wood for the truck and had them marked and ready for assembly. Rodney and myself assembled it in place. Allison had gotten all the cool attachments like the horn, bell, license plate and stenciled OLD 73 on the side. They then coated it this past Sunday with a light stain and preservative. It is absolutely brilliant!
You can't ask more from two wonderful people (Allison & Rodney), who besides being so talented and energetic, are great fun to work with . Their dedication to making the Townsend River Walk & Arboretum a Townsend treasure is unsurpassed. Stop by and thank them (moon pies are welcomed), they would love to hear from you. We are usually working every Friday morning into the afternoon.
