The "Island" Pollinator Garden at the North End of the TRWAThe "Island" Pollinator Garden at the North End of the Townsend River Walk & Arboretum.
An area approximately 125 ft long and 4 ft wide.
In conjunction with pollinator.org The "Island" Native Pollinator Garden was established in 2025.   We had been clearing the invasives plant species from this small island of diverse trees over the last couple of years and felt that surrounding these established Pollinator Friendly trees with a pollinator friendly garden would be a perfect compliment.

This garden demonstrates what is  required to put in a Pollinator Garden and also to hopefully provide the impetuous to others (businesses and residents) in Townsend to put in their own pollinator gardens.    The gardens can be big or small but the idea is to give bees, wasps, flies, butterflies, moths, hummingbirds and other pollinators the native plants they need to survive and thrive.  Not only do they improve the flowering and fruiting of these plants and trees but also provide pollinating of nearby fruit and vegetable gardens.

Below you will find information about the plants and seeds that we used and also a slideshow of the progress of the garden.
