Imperial Moth Caterpillar at the TRWA Sensory Garden
This large imperial caterpillar moth made it past our bird guards to become the first visitor to our, yet to be opened, Sensory Garden & Path. The imperial moth is somewhat rare due to the fact that birds and other creatures find there plump caterpillars a delicious treat!
Their host plants are varied and include: pines, oaks, maples, sassafras, and sweetgum. cedar, elm, persimmon, hickory, beech, honey locust, cypress (all of which we have a the TRWA) and more.
When we open the Sensory Garden keep your eyes peeled for these caterpillars. They are quite fun to watch.
