Scout Troop 47 Working on Removing Invasive Plants at the Townsend River Walk & Arboretum
A fantastic group of Scouts from Knoxville (Troop 47) joined us this past Saturday for a TRWA Invasive Plant Management Workshop.
The workshop consisted of learning about the Invasive Plants we have found at the TRWA over the years, the tools and techniques we use to manage and remove them and a hands-on invasive management removal.
The troop was attentive during the workshop and very diligent during the hands-on invasive removal. and we then ended the workshop by planting three Red Chokecherry (Prunus virginiana) shrubs and feasting on our favorite TRWA snack, Moon Pies.
It was a beautiful day and an enthusiastic group of young ladies. We want to thank them all and they are welcomed back anytime!
